Optimization of extraction methods of different plant materials

We are working on the methods to extract antioxidant phenolics of M. longifolia. Previously, a similar optimization was performed for anthocyanins in certain berries. As for the extraction method, classical Soxhlet and ultrasound treatments are compared. According to our results, with properly chosen solvents, the extraction via ultrasonic bath cooled to room temperature is more efficient compared to the Soxhlet. The efficiency of the method is also depends on the plant taxon and the phenolic compounds.
