The aim of the our Regional Research Centre is to transfer technology and R&D results originating from various fields of food science - food analytics, molecular biology, microbiology, device development and food safety - to diverse members of food industry. As a determining research base, the Knowledge Centre helps to increase R&D potential, innovation capacity and economic potential of its partners, by its own research capacity and knowledge transfer.
One of the main pillars of the Knowledge Centre is the realization of such special product and technological-bioanalytical developments, which aim the elaboration of functional food products, biosensors and analysers. Due to its regional location, the Knowledge Centre has importance in viticulture and oenology research development of the Eger and Tokaj wine regions. Most important research topics are analytical investigations of wines of protected origin and environmental friendly plant protection problems related to the safety of grape and wine as food products.
Due to its national and international relations, research activity and innovations in viticulture and oenology, the Knowledge Centre is destined to strengthen the leading position of the Eszterházy Károly College on regional and national level, as well. The main research activities are based on research programs and include developments in food safety and plant protection technologies, technological-bioanalytical and food product development and wine origination control investigations.
